When reporting a problem, it helps to include your Android version, your device model, the app version from Settings → About, and what you were doing when it went wrong. Please do not send us your customers' details — we do not need them and we do not want to hold them.
Questions
Frequently asked
Does Fixbench work without an internet connection?
Yes — completely. Every job card, customer, spare part and statistic is stored and computed on the device. The only screen that touches the network is Settings → Privacy policy, which loads the policy page from this site.
Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
On the device, and nobody else. The records holding customer names and phone numbers are encrypted with AES, with the key kept in the Android keystore. We operate no server that receives your data and we have no way of reading it.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no subscription. The app is free, with no advertising and no in-app purchases.
What happens to my records if I change phones?
Export a full JSON backup from Settings → Your data, move the file to the new device however you prefer, then use Restore from a backup. Because the data lives on the device, moving devices is your decision to make, not something a cloud account does for you.
Can I get my job cards into a spreadsheet?
Yes. Settings → Your data exports job cards and stock as CSV, one row per record, with the customer, the charges and the balance already broken out.
Does it send reminders when a job is due?
It shows them, rather than pushing them. The Today screen lists what is promised today, what is coming up and what is overdue. Fixbench sends no push notifications and asks for no notification permission.
How does the repair warranty work?
Each job card carries a warranty in days, which you set at intake. The clock starts when you hand the device back, not when it arrived, and a returning device shows whether that repair is still covered.
What happens to stock when I fit a part?
It comes off the shelf. Fitting a part to a job reduces its quantity by what you used and adds it to the card's charges; removing it puts the stock back. Anything at or below its reorder level is flagged on the Today screen.
Can I delete everything?
Settings → Clear all data removes every job card, customer, part and setting from the device. It cannot be undone, so export a backup first if there is any chance you will want the records again.
